Lyrics

Verse 1
Angels from the realms of glory,
Wing your flight o’er all the earth;
Ye who sang creation’s story (Job 38:7)
Now proclaim Messiah’s birth. (Luke 2:9-14)

Chorus
Come and worship, come and worship,
Worship Christ, the newborn king. (Matt. 2:2, Matt. 2:11, Heb. 1:6)

Verse 2
Shepherds, in the field abiding,
Watching o’er your flocks by night, (Luke 2:8)
God with us is now residing; (Matt. 1:23, John 1:14, Isa. 7:14)
Yonder shines the infant light:

Verse 3
Sages, leave your contemplations,
Brighter visions beam afar;
Seek the great Desire of nations; (Haggai 2:7)
Ye have seen His natal star. (Matt. 2:1-2, Matt. 2:10)

Verse 4
Saints, before the altar bending,
Watching long in hope and fear;
Suddenly the Lord, descending,
In His temple shall appear. (Mal. 3:1)

Verse 5
Sinners, wrung with true repentance,
Doomed for guilt to endless pains,
Justice now revokes the sentence,
Mercy calls you; break your chains. (Isa. 61:1, Luke 4:18)

Verse 6
Though an infant now we view Him, (Luke 2:12, Luke 2:16)
He shall fill His Father’s throne, (Luke 1:32-33, Rev. 3:21)
Gather all the nations to Him; (Matt. 25:32)
Every knee shall then bow down: (Isa. 45:23, Rom. 14:11, Phil. 2:9-11)

Verse 7
All creation, join in praising (Rev. 5:13)
God, the Father, Spirit, Son,
Evermore your voices raising
To th’eternal Three in One.
