Every real worshipper

Every real worshipper
Who serves the God he loves,
Thus attests his grace sincere,
And by his actions proves:
Faith by works itself will show:
But liars are they all who say
God they for their Father know,
The God they disobey.

Hymnal/Album: Originally titled: “‘Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his sayings.’—[John 8,] v. 55." This hymn appears in the 1763-64 manuscript “MS John.” This manuscript is part of the collection of the Methodist Archive and Research Centre in The John Rylands Library, The University of Manchester (accession number MA 1977/573, Charles Wesley Notebooks Box 3).
