He loved, and gave Himself for me

Verse 1
He lov’d, and gave himself for me,
On this, on this alone I build
My hope of life and liberty
And all the promises fulfil’d:
His blood, that purges every stain,
Shall make me throughly clean and free,
And I shall love my Lord again,
Who lov’d, and gave himself for me.

Verse 2
What may I not expect from Him
Who left for me his throne above?
He will from sin and death redeem
The object of his dying love,
He will restore me from my fall;
My pledge of heaven his passion is;
The bleeding cross hath promis’d all
And sworn my everlasting bliss.
