Jesus, the merciful and true

Jesus, the merciful and true,
Between the dead and living stand,
The numerous dead, the living few
Who now divide Britannia’s land!
Thou dost as in the midst appear,
Thou hast for all atonement made,
And thro’ the incense of thy prayer
The plague of unbelief is stayed.
