Jesus, to day appear

Verse 1
Jesus, to day appear,
As yesterday the same,
And put thine enemies in fear,
Who persecute thy name,
Convince them from above
Who fiercely now pursue
With Jewish hate the God of love,
But know not what they do.

Verse 2
Give them on Thee to call
Inquiring who Thou art,
And O, command the scales to fall
From every faithless heart;
Then, then thy wounds display!
And by thy cross subdued
They rise, and wash their sins away,
In thine all-cleansing blood.
