Praise be to the Father given!

Verse 1
Praise be to the Father given;
Christ he gave
Us to save,
Now the heirs of heaven.

Verse 2
Pay we equal adoration
To the Son:
He alone
Wrought out our salvation.

Verse 3
Glory to th’ eternal Spirit!
Us he seals,
Christ reveals,
And applies his merit.

Verse 4
Worship, honour, thanks, and blessing,
One and[1] Three,
Give we thee,
Never, never ceasing.

[1] “And” was changed to “in” in 1746.

Hymnal/Album: Introduced in a hymnal jointly credited to John and Charles Wesley; it is more likely than not that Charles wrote it but not certain. Introduced in Hymns and Sacred Poems (1740), published by John and Charles Wesley (London: William Strahan, 1740). Published in The Poetical Works of John and Charles Wesley, Collected and Arranged by G. Osborn, Vol. 3 (London: Wesleyan-Methodist Conference Office, 1869), page 346.
