Amazing Grace

Verse 1
Amazing grace! How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me! (Eph. 2:5, Eph. 2:8, Rom. 7:24)
I once was lost, but now am found; (Luke 15:24, Luke 15:32)
Was blind, but now I see. (John 9:25)

’Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, (Ps. 86:11, Jer. 32:40)
And grace my fears re­lieved; (Ps. 34:4)
How pre­cious did that grace ap­pear (Tit. 2:11)
The hour I first be­lieved!

Verse 3
Through ma­ny dan­gers, toils and snares, (Ps. 91:3)
I have al­rea­dy come;
’Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, (I Chron. 17:16)
And grace will lead me home.

Verse 4
The Lord has pro­mised good to me, (Rom. 8:28)
His Word my hope se­cures; (Heb. 6:17-19)
He will my shield and por­tion be, (Gen. 15:1, Ps. 119:114, II Sam. 22:3, Ps. 18:2, Ps. 28:7, Ps. 144:2, Lam. 3:24, Ps. 73:26, Ps. 119:57, Ps. 142:5)
As long as life en­dures.

Verse 5
Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail, (Ps. 73:26)
And mor­tal life shall cease,
I shall pos­sess, with­in the veil, (Heb. 6:19)
A life of joy and peace.

Verse 6
The earth shall soon dis­solve like snow, (II Pet. 3:10, Rev. 20:11)
The sun for­bear to shine; (Isa. 13:10, Matt. 24:29, Mark 13:24, Isa. 63:19, Rev. 21:23)
But God, who called me here be­low, (II Tim. 1:9)
Will be for­ev­er mine. (Isa. 43:1, Rev. 21:3)
