Blest Be the Tie That Binds

Verse 1
Blest be the tie that binds
Our hearts in Christ­ian love; (Col. 2:2, Col. 3:14)
The fel­low­ship of kin­dred minds (Phil. 2:2)
Is like to that above. (John 17:21-23)

Verse 2
Before our Fa­ther’s throne
We pour our ar­dent pray­ers;
Our fears, our hopes, our aims are one
Our com­forts and our cares.

Verse 3
We share each oth­er’s woes,
Our mu­tu­al bur­dens bear; (Gal. 6:2, I Cor. 12:26)
And oft­en for each oth­er flows
The sym­pa­thiz­ing tear. (Rom. 12:15)

Verse 4
When we asun­der part,
It gives us in­ward pain;
But we shall still be joined in heart, (Col. 2:5)
And hope to meet again. (I Thess. 2:17, I Thess. 4:16-17)

Verse 5
This glo­ri­ous hope re­vives (Tit. 2:13)
Our cour­age by the way;
While each in ex­pec­ta­tion lives,
And longs to see the day. (II Tim. 4:8, II Pet. 3:12)

Verse 6
From sor­row, toil and pain, (Rev. 21:4)
And sin, we shall be free, (Rom. 8:21)
And per­fect love and friend­ship reign (I John 4:18)
Through all eter­ni­ty.
