Come, let us anew
Our journey pursue,
With vigour arise,

Of heavenly birth, (John 3:3)
Tho’ wandring on earth,
This is not our place, (Phil. 3:20, John 17:16)
But strangers and pilgrims ourselves we confess. (Heb. 11:13, I Pet. 2:11, Ps. 119:54)

Verse 3
At Jesus’s call

And still we forego
For Jesus’s sake our enjoyments below. (Phil. 3:8)

Verse 4
No longing we find
For the country behind, (Heb. 11:15)
But onward we move, (Phil. 3:13-14)
And still we are seeking a country above. (Heb. 11:16, Col. 3:1-2, Phil. 3:20)

A country of joy (Heb. 11:16)
Without any alloy, (Isa. 25:8, Rev. 7:17, Rev. 21:4)
We thither repair,
Our heart, and our treasure already are there. (Matt. 6:21, Luke 12:34)

Verse 6
We march hand in hand
To Immanuel’s land; (Isa. 8:8, Rev. 21:3)
No matter what chear
We meet with on earth; for eternity’s near.

Verse 7
The rougher our way,
The shorter our stay,
The troubles that come
Shall come to our rescue, and hasten us home. (Acts 14:22)

Verse 8
The fiercer the blast,
The sooner ’tis past,
The tempests that rise
Shall gloriously hurry our souls to the skies. (James 1:2-3, II Cor. 4:17)
