Come, Ye Sinners, Poor and Needy

Verse 1
Come, ye sinn­ers, poor and wretch­ed,
Weak and wound­ed, sick and sore, (Rev. 3:17, Rom. 5:6)
Jesus rea­dy stands to save you,
Full of pi­ty joined with pow­er.
He is able, He is able; (Heb. 7:25)
He is will­ing: doubt no more. (Matt. 8:2-3, Mark 1:41, Luke 5:13)

Verse 2
Ho! ye needy; come, and wel­come;
God’s free boun­ty glor­ify.
True be­lief, and true re­pent­ance,
Every grace that brings us nigh,
Without mo­ney, with­out mo­ney,
Come to Je­sus Christ, and buy. (Isa. 55:1)

Verse 3
Let not con­science make you lin­ger:
Nor of fit­ness fond­ly dream.
All the fit­ness He re­quir­eth
Is, to feel your need of Him:
This He gives you, this He gives you;
’Tis the Spir­it’s ris­ing beam.

Verse 4
Come ye wea­ry, hea­vy la­den, (Matt. 11:28)
Bruised and man­gled by the Fall;
If you tar­ry, till you’re bet­ter,
You will nev­er come at all.
Not the right­eous, not the right­eous,
Sinners, Je­sus came to call. (Matt. 9:13, Mark 2:17, Luke 5:32, I Tim. 1:15)

Verse 5
View Him gro­vel­ing in the Gar­den;
Lo! your mak­er pros­trate lies. (Luke 22:41-44)
On the bloody tree be­hold Him;
Hear Him cry, before He dies,
It is fin­ished, it is fin­ished. (John 19:30)
Sinner, will not this suf­fice?

Verse 6
Lo! th’in­car­nate God, as­cend­ed, (John 1:14)
Pleads the mer­it of His blood. (Heb. 9:12)
Venture on Him, ven­ture whol­ly;
Let not oth­er trust in­trude.
None but Je­sus, none but Je­sus,
Can do help­less sin­ners good.

Verse 7
Saints and an­gels joined in con­cert,
Sing the prais­es of the Lamb; (Rev. 5:11-12, Rev. 7:9-12)
While the bliss­ful seats of Heav­en
Sweetly ec­ho with His name.
Hallelujah! Hal­le­lu­jah! Hal­le­lu­jah! (Rev. 19:1, Rev. 19:6)
Sinners here may sing the same.
