Crown Him with ma­ny crowns, (Rev. 19:12, Heb. 2:7)

Hark! How the heav’n­ly an­them drowns
All mu­sic but its own! (Rev. 5:13)
Awake, my soul, and sing (Isa. 26:19)
Of Him who died for thee; (Rom. 5:6, Rom. 5:8, II Cor. 5:15, I Thess. 5:10)
And hail Him as thy match­less king
Through all eter­ni­ty!

Verse 2
Crown Him the vir­gin’s son! (Isa. 7:14, Matt. 1:23)
The God in­car­nate born, (John 1:14)
Whose arm those crim­son tro­phies won
Which now His brow adorn!
Fruit of the mys­tic rose,
As of that rose the stem;
The root whence mer­cy ev­er flows, (Isa. 11:1, Rev. 22:16)
The Babe of Beth­le­hem! (Mic. 5:2, Luke 2:11-12)

Verse 3
Crown Him the Lord of love!
Behold His hands and side, (John 20:20, John 20:27)
Those wounds, yet vi­si­ble ab­ove, (Zech. 13:6, Rev. 5:6)
In beau­ty glo­ri­fied:
No an­gel in the sky
Can ful­ly bear that sight,
But down­ward bends his burn­ing eye
At mys­ter­ies so bright! (I Pet. 1:12)

Verse 4
Crown Him the Lord of peace! (Isa. 9:6, Eph. 2:14)
Whose pow­er a scep­ter sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease, (Ps. 46:9, Isa. 2:4, Mic. 4:3, Ps. 2:8-9)
Absorbed in pray­er and praise:

Crown Him the Lord of years,
The Po­ten­tate of time, (I Tim. 6:15)
Creator of the roll­ing spheres, (Gen. 1:1, John 1:3, Col. 1:16, Rev. 4:11)
Ineffably sub­lime.
All hail, Re­deem­er, hail!
For Thou has died for me; (Rom. 5:6, Rom. 5:8, II Cor. 5:15, I Thess. 5:10)
Thy praise and glo­ry shall not fail
Throughout eter­ni­ty.

Verse 6
Crown Him the Lord of Heav’n,

Crown Him the king to whom is giv’n
The won­drous name of Love. (I John 4:8, I John 4:16)

As thrones be­fore Him fall;

Crown Him the Son of God,

Crown Him the Son of Man; (Dan. 7:13-14)
Who ev­ery grief hath known (Isa. 53:3-4)
That wrings the hu­man breast, (Heb. 2:18, Heb. 4:15)
And takes and bears them for His own, (Isa. 53:4)
That all in Him may rest. (Matt. 11:28)

Verse 8
Crown Him the Lord of life, (Acts 3:15)
Who tri­umphed o’er the grave, (Rev. 1:18, I Cor. 15:55-57, Col. 2:15)
And rose vic­tor­ious in the strife
For those He came to save. (Matt. 18:11, Luke 9:56, Luke 19:10, I Tim. 1:15)
His glo­ries now we sing,
Who died, and rose on high, (Rom. 14:9, II Cor. 5:15, I Thess. 4:14)
Who died eter­nal life to bring, (Rom. 6:23, John 3:15-16)

Who ov­er all doth reign, (Rev. 11:15)
Who once on earth, the in­car­nate Word, (John 1:14)

Now lives in realms of light, (I Tim. 6:16)
Where saints with an­gels sing
Their songs be­fore Him day and night, (Rev. 4:8, Rev. 7:15)
