Lyrics

Verse 1
Crown Him with many crowns, (Rev. 19:12, Heb. 2:7)
The Lamb upon His throne. (Rev. 5:6, Rev. 7:17, Rev. 22:3)
Hark! How the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own! (Rev. 5:13)
Awake, my soul, and sing (Isa. 26:19)
Of Him who died for thee; (Rom. 5:6, Rom. 5:8, II Cor. 5:15, I Thess. 5:10)
And hail Him as thy matchless king
Through all eternity!

Verse 2
Crown Him the virgin’s son! (Isa. 7:14, Matt. 1:23)
The God incarnate born, (John 1:14)
Whose arm those crimson trophies won
Which now His brow adorn!
Fruit of the mystic rose,
As of that rose the stem;
The root whence mercy ever flows, (Isa. 11:1, Rev. 22:16)
The Babe of Bethlehem! (Mic. 5:2, Luke 2:11-12)

Verse 3
Crown Him the Lord of love!
Behold His hands and side, (John 20:20, John 20:27)
Those wounds, yet visible above, (Zech. 13:6, Rev. 5:6)
In beauty glorified:
No angel in the sky
Can fully bear that sight,
But downward bends his burning eye
At mysteries so bright! (I Pet. 1:12)

Verse 4
Crown Him the Lord of peace! (Isa. 9:6, Eph. 2:14)
Whose power a scepter sways
From pole to pole, that wars may cease, (Ps. 46:9, Isa. 2:4, Mic. 4:3, Ps. 2:8-9)
Absorbed in prayer and praise:
His reign shall know no end, (Ex. 15:18, Ps. 145:13, Ps. 146:10, Isa. 9:7, Dan. 4:3, Dan. 7:14, Dan. 7:27, Mic. 4:7, Luke 1:33, II Pet. 1:11, Rev. 11:15)
And round His piercèd feet (Ps. 22:16, Zech. 12:10)
Fair flowers of paradise extend
Their fragrance ever sweet.

Verse 5
Crown Him the Lord of years,
The Potentate of time, (I Tim. 6:15)
Creator of the rolling spheres, (Gen. 1:1, John 1:3, Col. 1:16, Rev. 4:11)
Ineffably sublime.
All hail, Redeemer, hail!
For Thou has died for me; (Rom. 5:6, Rom. 5:8, II Cor. 5:15, I Thess. 5:10)
Thy praise and glory shall not fail
Throughout eternity.

Verse 6
Crown Him the Lord of Heav’n,
Enthroned in worlds above, (Ps. 103:19, Eph. 1:20-21, Heb. 8:1, Rev. 4:2, Rev. 20:11)
Crown Him the king to whom is giv’n
The wondrous name of Love. (I John 4:8, I John 4:16)
Crown Him with many crowns, (Rev. 19:12)
As thrones before Him fall;
Crown Him, ye kings, with many crowns, (Rev. 19:12)
For He is king of all. (Ps. 47:7, I Tim. 6:15, Rev. 19:16)

Verse 7
Crown Him the Son of God,
Before the worlds began, (John 17:5, Col. 1:15-17, I Pet. 1:20)
And ye who tread where He hath trod, (I Pet. 2:21)
Crown Him the Son of Man; (Dan. 7:13-14)
Who every grief hath known (Isa. 53:3-4)
That wrings the human breast, (Heb. 2:18, Heb. 4:15)
And takes and bears them for His own, (Isa. 53:4)
That all in Him may rest. (Matt. 11:28)

Verse 8
Crown Him the Lord of life, (Acts 3:15)
Who triumphed o’er the grave, (Rev. 1:18, I Cor. 15:55-57, Col. 2:15)
And rose victorious in the strife
For those He came to save. (Matt. 18:11, Luke 9:56, Luke 19:10, I Tim. 1:15)
His glories now we sing,
Who died, and rose on high, (Rom. 14:9, II Cor. 5:15, I Thess. 4:14)
Who died eternal life to bring, (Rom. 6:23, John 3:15-16)
And lives that death may die. (Heb. 2:14, I Cor. 15:26, II Tim. 1:10, Rev. 20:14)

Verse 9
Crown Him the Lord of lords, (Deut. 10:17, Ps. 136:3, I Tim. 6:15, Rev. 17:14, Rev. 19:16)
Who over all doth reign, (Rev. 11:15)
Who once on earth, the incarnate Word, (John 1:14)
For ransomed sinners slain, (Rev. 5:9, I Tim. 2:6, Matt. 20:28, Mark 10:45)
Now lives in realms of light, (I Tim. 6:16)
Where saints with angels sing
Their songs before Him day and night, (Rev. 4:8, Rev. 7:15)
Their God, Redeemer, king. (Isa. 44:6, Isa. 43:14)
