Lyrics

Verse 1
Encamped along the hills of light,
Ye Christian soldiers, rise.
And press the battle ere the night (Eph. 6:10-13)
Shall veil the glowing skies.
Against the foe in vales below
Let all our strength be hurled.
Faith is the victory, we know, (I John 5:4)
That overcomes the world.

Chorus
Faith is the victory!
Faith is the victory!
O glorious victory,
That overcomes the world. (I John 5:4)

Verse 2
His banner over us is love, (Song of Solomon 2:4)
Our sword the Word of God. (Eph. 6:17, Heb. 4:12)
We tread the road the saints above
With shouts of triumph trod.
By faith, they like a whirlwind’s breath,
Swept on o’er every field.
The faith by which they conquered death
Is still our shining shield. (Eph. 6:16)

Verse 3
On every hand the foe we find
Drawn up in dread array.
Let tents of ease be left behind,
And onward to the fray.
Salvation’s helmet on each head, (Eph. 6:17, I Thess. 5:8, Isa. 59:17)
With truth all girt about, (Eph. 6:14)
The earth shall tremble ’neath our tread,
And echo with our shout.

Verse 4
To him that overcomes the foe,
White raiment shall be giv’n. (Rev. 3:5)
Before the angels he shall know
His name confessed in Heav’n. (Matt. 10:32, Luke 12:8, Rev. 3:5)
Then onward from the hill of light,
Our hearts with love aflame,
We’ll vanquish all the hosts of night,
In Jesus’ conqu’ring name. (Phil. 2:9-11)
