Fountain of Being, Source of Good!

Verse 1
Fountain of being, source of good! (Acts 17:28)
At whose almighty breath
The creature proves our bane or food,
Dispensing life or death: (Ps. 104:27-30)

Verse 2
Thee we address with humble fear, (Heb. 12:28)
Vouchsafe thy gifts to crown;
Father of all, thy children hear, (Eph. 4:6, Matt. 7:11, Luke 11:13)
And send a blessing down. (James 1:17, Mal. 3:10)

Verse 3
O may our souls for ever pine
Thy grace to taste and see; (Ps. 34:8, I Pet. 2:2-3)
Athirst for righteousness divine, (Matt. 5:6, Ps. 42:1-2, Ps. 63:1)
And hungry after thee!

Verse 4
For this we lift our longing eyes, (Ps. 123:1-2)
We wait the gracious word; (Luke 4:22, Ps. 130:5, Ps. 85:8)
Speak—and our hearts from earth shall rise,
And feed upon the Lord. (John 6:56-57, Deut. 8:3, Matt. 4:4, Luke 4:4)
