Calmly to thee my soul looks up,
And waits thy promises to prove,
The object of my stedfast hope, (Heb. 6:19)
The seal of thine eternal love. (Song of Solomon 8:6)

Verse 3
That I thy mercy may proclaim,
That all mankind thy truth may see,
Hallow thy great and glorious name, (Ezek. 36:23, Matt. 6:10, Luke 11:2)
And perfect holiness in me. (I Pet. 1:16)

Verse 4
Chose from the world if now I stand (John 15:19, I Cor. 1:27-28)

I justly call the Saviour mine:

My inmost soul to thee convert;
Love me, for ever love thine own,

Thy sanctifying Spirit pour (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:17)

And let my spirit cleave to thee.

In me no longer let it stay,

Verse 10
The hatred of the carnal mind (Rom. 8:7)
