Lyrics

Verse 1
My life flows on in endless song;
Above earth’s lamentation
I hear the sweet though far off hymn
That hails a new creation: (II Cor. 5:17, Gal. 6:15, Rev. 21:5)
Through all the tumult and the strife
I hear the music ringing;
It finds an echo in my soul—
How can I keep from singing?

Verse 2
What though my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my Savior liveth;
What though the darkness gather round!
Songs in the night He giveth: (Job 35:10, Ps. 77:6)
No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging; (Ps. 46:1-3)
Since Christ is Lord of Heav’n and earth, (Matt. 11:25, Luke 10:21, Acts 17:24)
How can I keep from singing?

Verse 3
I lift mine eyes; the cloud grows thin;
I see the blue above it;
And day by day this pathway smoothes
Since first I learned to love it:
The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart, (John 14:27, Phil. 4:7)
A fountain ever springing: (John 4:14, Isa. 58:11)
All things are mine since I am His— (I Cor. 3:21-23)
How can I keep from singing?
