O come, O come, Em­ma­nu­el, (Isa. 7:14, Matt. 1:23)
And ran­som cap­tive Is­ra­el,
That mourns in lone­ly ex­ile here (Ps. 137:1-3)
Until the Son of God ap­pear. (Heb. 9:26)

O come, Thou Wis­dom from on high, (I Cor. 1:24, James 3:17)
Who or­der­est all things migh­ti­ly;
To us the path of know­ledge show,
And teach us in her ways to go. (Ps. 25:4-5)

O come, Thou Rod of Jes­se, free (Isa. 11:1, Rom. 15:12)
Thine own from Sa­tan’s tyr­an­ny; (Heb. 2:14-15)
From depths of hell Thy peo­ple save, (Ps. 16:10, Ps. 86:13)

O come, Thou Day-spring, come and cheer (Luke 1:78-79)
Our spir­its by Thine ad­vent here;

O come, Thou Key of Da­vid, come, (Isa. 22:22, Rev. 3:7)
And op­en wide our heav­en­ly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to mi­se­ry.

Verse 6
O come, O come, great Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes on Si­nai’s height
In an­cient times once gave the law

O come, De­sire of na­tions, bind (Haggai 2:7)
In one the hearts of all man­kind;
Bid Thou our sad di­vi­sions cease, (John 17:21-23)
And be Thy­self our king of Peace. (Isa. 9:6)
