Lyrics

Verse 1
Of the Father’s love begotten,
Ere the worlds began to be, (John 17:5, Col. 1:17)
He is Alpha and Omega, (Isa. 44:6, Rev. 1:8, Rev. 1:11, Rev. 21:6, Rev. 22:13)
He the source, the ending He,
Of the things that are, that have been, (Col. 1:16-17)
And that future years shall see,
Evermore and evermore!

Verse 2
He is here, whom seers in old time
Chanted of, while ages ran;
Whom the writings of the prophets
Promised since the world began; (Luke 1:70, Acts 3:18, Acts 3:21, Rom. 1:2)
Then foretold, now manifested, (I Tim. 3:16, I John 1:1-2)
To receive the praise of man, (John 5:23)
Evermore and evermore!

Verse 3
O that ever-blessèd birthday,
When the virgin, full of grace, (Luke 1:28, Isa. 7:14, Matt. 1:23)
Of the Holy Ghost incarnate
Bare the Savior of our race; (Matt. 1:20-21, Luke 1:35)
And that Child, the world’s Redeemer, (Luke 2:11)
First displayed His sacred face,
Evermore and evermore!

Verse 4
Praise Him, O ye Heav’n of Heavens! (Ps. 148:4)
Praise Him, angels in the height! (Ps. 148:1-2, Heb. 1:6)
Every power and every virtue
Sing praise of God aright;
Let no tongue of man be silent,
Let each heart and voice unite, (Ps. 150:6)
Evermore and evermore!

Verse 5
Thee let age, and Thee let manhood,
Thee let choirs of infants sing;
Thee the matrons and the virgins,
And the children answering; (Ps. 148:12-13, Ps. 8:2, Matt. 21:16)
Let their modest song re-echo,
And their heart its praises bring,
Evermore and evermore!

Verse 6
Laud and honor to the Father,
Laud and honor to the Son!
Laud and honor to the Spirit!
Ever Three, and ever One; (I John 5:7)
Consubstantial, co-eternal, (John 1:1, Heb. 9:14)
While unending ages run,
Evermore and evermore!
