Prepare, the slaughtering sword prepare
For Babylon’s devoted sons, (Isa. 14:21, Jer. 50:27)
The children from their mother tear, (Isa. 13:15-16)
Dash all your sins against the stones. (Ps. 137:8-9)

Verse 31
No more let Satan’s offspring rise, (Isa. 14:21, John 8:44)
Or build the heaven-invading tower; (Isa. 14:13-14, Gen. 11:4, Jer. 51:53)
Your sins no more shall threat the skies, (Rev. 18:5)
But lose their being with their power.

Verse 32
For I (the Lord of hosts hath said)
Will against Babylon rise up, (Isa. 14:22, Jer. 51:1)
Throughout their towers destruction spread, (Isa. 14:23, Jer. 50:15, Jer. 51:58)
And quite cut off their latest hope. (Isa. 14:22)

Verse 33
Against them will I set my face, (Lev. 20:5, Lev. 26:17, Ps. 34:16, Ezek. 14:8)
The serpent’s seed, th’ accursed kin, (Isa. 14:29, Gen. 3:15)
Being, remains, and name erase, (Isa. 14:22, Job 18:17, Ps. 9:5, Ps. 109:13)
And cut off the whole brood of sin.

Verse 34
Satan his kingdom’s fall shall see, (Matt. 12:26, Mark 3:26, Luke 10:18, Rom. 16:20, Rev. 12:9)
Its final period sin shall feel, (Dan. 9:24)
Destruction shall the besom be,
And sweep its last remains to hell. (Isa. 14:15, Isa. 14:23, Ps. 9:17)

Verse 35
The Lord of hosts, the mighty Lord,
Hath sworn his promise to fulfil, (Isa. 14:24, Heb. 6:13)
Surely I will perform my word, (Isa. 55:11, Jer. 1:12)
The counsel of my sovereign will. (Isa. 46:10-11, Eph. 1:11)

Verse 36
It shall be so: my word shall stand, (Isa. 14:24, Isa. 40:8)
I will confirm the sure decree,
And break th’ Assyrian in my land, (Isa. 14:25, Isa. 10:27, Nah. 1:12-13)
And set my captive people free. (Isa. 61:1, Luke 4:18-19)

Verse 37
My mountains shall lift up their head,
O’erlook the world and sin below; (Isa. 14:25, Isa. 2:2, Mic. 4:1)
My people shall on scorpions tread, (Luke 10:19, Rom. 16:20)
On sin—no more their bosom-foe. (Rom. 7:23)

Verse 38
This is the purpose of my grace, (Isa. 14:26, II Tim. 1:9)
My grace which every soul may have, (I Tim. 2:3-4, Tit. 2:11, II Pet. 3:9)
This is the hand o’er Adam’s race
Stretch’d out, and ready all to save. (Isa. 14:26, Isa. 59:1)

The Lord of hosts hath so decreed, (Isa. 14:27)
To save the faithful from all sin, (Matt. 1:21, I John 1:7)
To make them saints and free indeed, (John 8:36, I Cor. 1:2)
Entirely whole, and throughly clean. (Ps. 51:2, Ezek. 36:25, John 13:10, I Thess. 5:23)

Verse 40
The fixt, unchangeable decree
What power can break or disannul! (Isa. 14:27, Dan. 4:35, Gal. 3:17)
It stood from all eternity
Confirm’d to every faithful soul. (II Tim. 1:9, Tit. 1:2)

Verse 41
Who can the will divine withstand? (II Chron. 20:6, Isa. 43:13, Dan. 4:35, Rom. 9:19)
The will divine its course shall have,
Who can turn back that out-stretch’d hand, (Isa. 14:27)
Or teach his God how far to save! (Isa. 40:13-14, Rom. 11:34)

Verse 42
Factors for hell, ye strive in vain (Ps. 2:1-4, Acts 5:39)
To limit his omnipotence,
Sin shall not in our flesh remain, (Rom. 6:12, Rom. 6:14, Rom. 8:3-4)
His perfect love shall drive it thence.

Verse 43
The poor shall on his promise feed,
The needy shall in peace lie down, (Isa. 14:30, Ps. 4:8)
And wait to be for ever freed
From sin, and wear the conqu’ror’s crown. (Rom. 6:22, Rom. 8:37, II Tim. 4:8)

Verse 44
The Saviour’s hand is stretch’d out still, (Isa. 14:27, Isa. 5:25, Isa. 9:12, Isa. 9:21, Isa. 10:4)
And still to sin we hear him say,
With famine I thy root will kill,
I will, I will thy remnant slay. (Isa. 14:30)

Verse 45
Howl, ye base advocates for sin, (Isa. 14:31)
Your giant chief hath lost his head,
Fall’n is the mighty Philistine:
Golia[t]h with his host is dead. (Isa. 14:29, I Sam. 17:49-51)

Verse 46
The dear remains of sin are gone,
And all dissolv’d its system is; (Isa. 14:31, Rom. 6:6, I John 3:8)
Not one of all the race, not one
Survives to break our perfect peace. (Isa. 14:22, Isa. 26:3)

Verse 47
We now their faithful saying feel,
Who preach’d the all-redeeming Lord, (I Tim. 4:9-10)
And sav’d from sin, set to our seal, (Matt. 1:21, John 3:33)
And answer to the gospel-word.

Verse 48
The Lord hath founded on a rock
His church, which never shall remove: (Isa. 14:32, Ps. 125:1, Matt. 7:25, Luke 6:48, Matt. 16:18)
The gates of hell can never shock (Matt. 16:18)
His saints, when perfected in love. (I John 2:5, I John 4:12, I John 4:17-18)

Verse 49
This is the state which all may know,
To which his poor shall all attain, (Isa. 14:32)
Be as their sinless Lord below, (Matt. 5:48, Luke 6:40, Eph. 4:13, I Pet. 2:22, I John 3:5)
And glorious then for ever reign. (Rev. 22:5)
