Stay, thou departing Spirit stay,
Nor take thy presence quite away! (I Sam. 4:21, Ps. 51:11, Ezek. 10:18, Ezek. 11:13)
Tho’ now our languid hearts bemoan
Thy glory to the threshold gone, (Ezek. 9:3)
Yet do not, Lord, withdraw thy light,
Or leave us to eternal night.
