Verse 1
The earth and all her fulness owns
Jehovah for her Sovereign Lord; (Ps. 24:1, Ps. 89:11, I Cor. 10:26, I Cor. 10:28)
The countless myriads of her sons
Rose into being at his word. (John 1:1-3, Gen. 1:26-27, Ps. 33:9)

Verse 2
His word did out of nothing call (Heb. 11:3)
The world, and founded all that is, (Ps. 24:2, Gen. 1:1-2)
Launch’d on the floods this solid ball,
And fix’d it in the floating seas. (Ps. 24:2, Gen. 1:9-10, Ps. 104:5-6)

Verse 3
But who shall quit this low abode,
Who shall ascend the heavenly place, (Ps. 24:3, Deut. 30:12, Ps. 139:8, Prov. 30:4, Rom. 10:6)
And stand upon the mount of God, (Ps. 24:3)
And see his Maker face to face? (Gen. 32:30, Ex. 33:11, Ex. 33:20, Num. 12:8, Num. 14:14, Deut. 5:4, Deut. 34:10, I Cor. 13:12, Rev. 22:4)

Verse 4
The man whose hands and heart are clean, (Ps. 24:4, Ps. 51:10, Ps. 73:13, Prov. 20:9, James 4:8)
That blessed portion shall receive,
Who here by grace is sav’d from sin, (Acts 15:11, Eph. 2:5, Eph. 2:8-9)
Hereafter shall in glory live.

Verse 5
He shall obtain the starry crown, (I Thess. 2:19, II Tim. 4:8, James 1:12, Rev. 2:10)
And numbred with the saints above,
The God of his salvation own, (Ps. 24:5)
The God of his salvation love.

Verse 6
This is the chosen royal race (I Pet. 2:9)
That seek their Saviour-God to see, (Ps. 27:8)
To see in holiness thy face, (Ps. 24:6, Gen. 32:30, Heb. 12:14, Matt. 5:8)
O Jesus, and be join’d to thee.

Verse 7
Thou the true wrestling Jacob art, (Ps. 24:5-6, Gen. 32:24-30)
Whose prayers and tears, and blood inclin’d (Heb. 5:7, Luke 22:44)
Thy Father’s majesty t’ impart
His name, his love to all mankind. (John 17:26)

Verse 8
Our Lord is risen from the dead, (I Cor. 15:20, Matt. 28:7, Luke 24:6-7)
Our Jesus is gone up on high, (Acts 1:9, Eph. 4:8-10)
The powers of hell are captive led, (Ps. 68:18, Eph. 4:8, Col. 2:15)
Drag’d to the portals of the sky.

Verse 9
There his triumphal chariot waits, (Ps. 68:17-18)
And angels chaunt the solemn lay,
Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates, (Ps. 24:7-10)
Ye everlasting doors give way. (Ps. 24:7)

Verse 10
Loose all your bars of massy light, (Rev. 21:25)
And wide unfold th’ etherial scene;
He claims these mansions as his right, (John 14:2-3)
Receive the King of Glory in. (Ps. 24:7)

Verse 11
Who is this King of Glory, who? (Ps. 24:8)
The Lord that all his foes o’ercame, (I Cor. 15:25-26, Rev. 17:14)
The world, sin, death, and hell o’erthrew: (Ps. 24:8, John 16:33, I Cor. 15:55-57)
And Jesus is the Conqueror’s name.

Verse 12
Lo! His triumphal chariot waits, (Ps. 68:17-18)
And angels chaunt the solemn lay,
Lift up your heads, ye heavenly gates, (Ps. 24:7-10)
Ye everlasting doors give way. (Ps. 24:7)

Verse 13
Who is this King of Glory, who? (Ps. 24:7-10)
The Lord of glorious power possest, (II Thess. 1:9)
The King of saints and angels too, (Ps. 24:10, Rev. 15:3)
God over all, forever blest. (Rom. 9:5, Ps. 45:2, Rom. 1:25, II Cor. 11:31, Eph. 1:20-21)
