The Lord unto My Lord Has Said, Sit Thou, in Glory Sit (Psalm 110)

Verse 1
The Lord unto my Lord hath said,
Sit thou, in glory sit,
Till I thine enemies have made

Verse 2
Jesu, my Lord, mighty to save, (Isa. 63:1)
What can my hopes withstand,

Verse 3
I fear nor earth, nor sin, nor hell, (Matt. 10:28)
And death hath lost his sting, (I Cor. 15:55-57)
In vain a while thy foes rebel, (Ps. 2:1-6)
Thou Jesus art my King.

Nature is subject to thy word, (Matt. 8:23-27, Mark 4:35-41, Luke 8:22-25)
All power to thee is given, (Matt. 28:18)
The uncontroll’d Almighty Lord
Of hell, and earth, and heaven. (Rev. 1:18)

Verse 5
And shall my sins thy will oppose?
Jesu, thy right maintain,
O let not thine usurping foes

Verse 6
Master, on thee my soul is stay’d? (Isa. 26:3)
Thou wilt not quit thy claim,

And only thine I am. (Isa. 43:1)

Verse 7
Come then, and claim me for thine own,
Saviour, thy right assert,
Come, gracious Lord, set up thy throne,

The day of thy great power I feel, (Ps. 110:3)
And pant for liberty,
I loath myself, deny my will, (Matt. 16:24, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23)

Verse 9
I hate my sins, no longer mine, (Rom. 7:15)
For I renounce them too, (Rom. 6:6)
My weakness with thy strength I join, (Phil. 4:13)

Verse 10
Our common foes, who thee defy’d
And would not own thy sway,
Envy, and sloth, desire, and pride,

Verse 11
Thy enemies destroy in mine,
Pronounce their speedy doom,
In vengeance speak, in brightness shine,

Verse 12
So shall I bless thy pleasing sway,
And sitting at thy feet (Luke 10:39)
Thy laws with all my heart obey, (Deut. 11:13, Deut. 30:10)
With all my soul submit.

Verse 13
So shall I do thy will below,

The virtue of thy passion shew,
The triumphs of thy love.

Verse 14
Thy love the conquest more than gains:
To all I shall proclaim,

Verse 15
To thee shall earth and hell submit, (Phil. 2:10, Heb. 2:8)
And every foe shall fall,
