Lyrics

Verse 1
Thou didst leave Thy throne
And Thy kingly crown,
When Thou camest to earth for me;
But in Bethlehem’s home
Was there found no room
For Thy holy nativity. (Luke 2:4-7)

Chorus
O come to my heart, Lord Jesus,
There is room in my heart for Thee. (John 14:23, Eph. 3:17)

Verse 2
Heaven’s arches rang
When the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree; (Luke 2:8-14)
But of lowly birth didst
Thou come to earth,
And in great humility. (Phil. 2:5-8, II Cor. 8:9)

Verse 3
The foxes found rest,
And the birds their nest
In the shade of the forest tree;
But Thy couch was the sod,
O Thou Son of God,
In the deserts of Galilee. (Matt. 8:20, Luke 9:58)

Verse 4
Thou camest, O Lord,
With the living Word, (Heb. 4:12, John 1:14)
That should set Thy people free; (John 8:32, John 8:36, Gal. 5:1)
But with mocking scorn
And with crown of thorn, (Matt. 27:27-31, Matt. 27:41, Mark 15:17-20, Mark 15:31, Luke 22:63, Luke 23:11, Luke 23:36, John 19:2, John 19:5)
They bore Thee to Calvary. (Luke 23:33)

Verse 5
When the heavens shall ring,
And the angels sing,
At Thy coming to victory, (Dan. 7:13, Matt. 24:30, Matt. 26:64, Mark 13:26, Mark 14:62, II Thess. 1:7-10, Rev. 1:7)
Let Thy voice call me home, (I Thess. 4:16-17, John 5:28)
Saying Yet there is room,
There is room at My side for thee.

Chorus 2
My heart shall rejoice, Lord Jesus,
When Thou comest
And callest for me. (I Thess. 4:16-17)
