What Child Is This

What child is this who, laid to rest (Luke 1:66 - though used of John the Baptist)
On Mary’s lap is sleep­ing?
Whom an­gels greet with an­thems sweet, (Luke 2:8-14)
While shep­herds watch are keep­ing?
This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shep­herds guard and an­gels sing; (Luke 2:8-14)
Haste, haste, to bring Him laud, (Luke 2:15-16, Luke 2:20)

Why lies He in such mean es­tate,
Where ox and ass are feed­ing? (Luke 2:7)
Good Christ­ians, fear, for sin­ners here

Let lov­ing hearts en­throne Him.
