Wonderful Peace

In ce­les­ti­al-like strains it un­ceas­ing­ly falls
O’er my soul like an in­fi­nite calm.

While the years of eter­ni­ty roll!

I am rest­ing to­night in this won­der­ful peace,
Resting sweet­ly in Je­sus’ con­trol; (Matt. 11:28-29)
For I’m kept from all dan­ger by night and by day, (Ps. 91:5-6, Ps. 121:5-8)
And His glo­ry is flood­ing my soul! (II Cor. 4:6)

And I think when I rise to that ci­ty of peace,
Where the an­chor of peace I shall see, (Heb. 6:19-20, Rev. 22:4)
That one strain of the song which the ran­somed will sing (Isa. 35:10, Isa. 51:11, Rev. 5:9, Rev. 14:2-3)
In that heav­en­ly king­dom will be: (II Tim. 4:18)

Marching down the rough path­way of time?
Make Je­sus your friend ere the sha­dows grow dark; (John 15:13-15, John 12:35-36)
O ac­cept this sweet peace so sub­lime!
