Make our earthly souls a field

Verse 1
Make our earthy souls a field (Ezek. 34:27)
Which God delights to bless,
Let us in due season yield
The fruits of righteousness; (Heb. 12:11, Phil. 1:11, James 3:18)
Make us trees of paradise (Ezek. 34:27, Ps. 1:3)
Which more and more thy praise may shew,
Deeper sink, and higher rise,
And to perfection grow. (Phil. 3:12)

Verse 2
Let us by our lives declare
The holy root within,
Trees that cannot evil bear, (Matt. 7:18)
And saints that cannot sin, (I John 3:9, I John 5:18)
Pillars that go out no more, (Rev. 3:12)
Elect of our election sure, (II Pet. 1:10)
Safe, when all the struggle’s o’er,
And pure as God is pure. (I John 3:3)
