Here in the depth of sweet distress

Verse 1
Here in the depth of sweet distress
Again our vineyards we possess, (Hosea 2:15)
And drink the dead-reviving wine: (Hosea 2:15)
He lifts our drooping spirits up,
Gives us an open door of hope, (Hosea 2:15, Rev. 3:8)
And chears with confidence divine.

Verse 2
Again the hidden God appears, (Isa. 45:15)
He scatters all our gloomy fears, (Ps. 34:4)
The joy of conscious faith imparts, (Ps. 51:12)
He gives us back our former love, (Rev. 2:4-5)
Restores the kingdom from above,
And stamps forgiveness on our hearts. (Jer. 31:33, Heb. 8:10, Heb. 10:16)
