The Name we still acknowledge

Verse 1
The name we still acknowledge
That burst our bonds in sunder,
And loudly sing (Hosea 2:15)
Our conquering King
In songs of joy and wonder:
In every day’s deliverance
Our Jesus we discover;
’Tis he, ’tis he!
That smote the sea,
And led us safely over. (Exodus 14:21-22, Ps. 66:6, Ps. 106:8-10, Ps. 136:13-14, Isa. 51:10, Isa. 63:13)

Verse 2
In sin’s and Satan’s onsets
He still our souls secures,
Our guardian God
Looks thro’ the cloud,
And blasts our fierce pursuers: (Ex. 14:24-28, Ps. 136:15)
He fights his people’s battles (Ex. 14:14)
Omnipotently glorious,
He fights alone,
And makes his own
O’er earth and hell victorious. (Rom. 8:37)

Verse 3
Partakers of his triumph
In vehement expectation
We now stand still (Ex. 14:13)
To prove his will,
And see his great salvation; (Heb. 2:3)
With violent faith and patience
To seize the kingdom given, (Matt. 11:12)
The purchas’d rest
In Jesu’s breast, (Matt. 11:28-29, Heb. 4:9-11)
The inheritance of heaven.
