The peace Thou didst to man bequeath

Verse 1
The peace Thou didst to man bequeath
So dearly purchas’d by thy death
Thou freely dost bestow,
Fruit of thy blessed lips, we feel
The peace thy gracious words reveal,
And all the comfort know.

Verse 2
We thus our legacy receive,
And blest by the Testator, live
A life of faith and love,
A life, the sure effect of thine,
The life of purity Divine
Which angels live above.
