Who truly thinks, and surely knows

Verse 1
Who truly thinks, and surely knows
He stands on Christ the Rock secure,
Must still his enemies oppose,
And watchful to the end endure,
No promise absolute is found,
But who on him for heaven depend,
We all in every state are bound
To watch, and pray, till life shall end.

Verse 2
If now we freely pardon’d are,
And sink again in careless ease,
No longer watching unto prayer,
We drop our shield, we lose our peace;
And saints who the condition slight
Th’ apostate’s fearful doom shall feel,
And tumble from perfection’s height,
And fall into the deepest hell.
