A token he for good receives

A token he for good receives
Who nothing hopes for his own sake,
Yet humbly confident believes
Christ will on him compassion take;
Who asks the faithful people’s prayers,
By living saints to Christ applies,
Would pray himself, but scarsely dares
Approach, or lift to heaven his eyes.
