Be merciful, O God, to me, (Psalm 57:1)
To me who in thy love confide;
To thy protecting love I flee,

Till Satan’s tyranny is o’er,
And cruel sin subsists no more. (Rom. 6:12-14)

Who freely undertakes my cause,
My God most merciful, most high,

With all his works, and all his power. (I Jn. 3:8)
Verse 3
The Lord out of his holy place
His mercy and his truth shall send: (Psalm 57:3)

Jesus shall still my soul defend;
While in the toils of hell I lye,

Among the sons of men I dwell,
Fierce as the wildest beasts of prey, (Psalm 57:4)
Inflam’d with rage like fiends in hell,
My soul they seek to tear and slay: (Psalm 57:4)
As spears their teeth, as darts their words, (Psalm 57:4, Prov. 30:14)

Be thou exalted, Lord, above (Psalm 57:11)
The highest names in earth and heaven, (Psalm 57:5, Psalm 148:13)
Let angels sing thy glorious love, (Rev. 5:11-12)
And bless the name, to sinners giv’n, (Acts 4:12)
All earth and heaven their King proclaim;
Bow every knee to Jesus’ name. (Isa. 45:23, Rom. 14:11, Phil. 2:9-10)
Verse 6
To thee let all my foes submit,
Who hunt, and bow my spirit down;
Themselves shall fall into their pit, (Psalm 57:6, Psalm 7:15, Psalm 9:15)
Who seek my death ensure their own; (Psalm 37:15)
Satan and sin their doom shall have,
And sink into th’ infernal grave. (Rev. 20:10)
Verse 7
My heart is fixt, O God, my heart (Psalm 57:7, Psalm 108:1)
Is fixt to triumph in thy grace

My glory is to sing thy praise, (Psalm 57:7)
