Can priests with Sadducees agree

Verse 1
Can priests with Sadducees agree,
With men who mock at heaven and hell?
Common their rage and enmity,
Their bitter, persecuting zeal,
Gainst all the ministers of grace
When Jesus gives his word success.

Verse 2
Who love to reign install’d on high,
For honor, power, and riches care,
And who an after-state deny,
The growing truth they cannot bear
Which pomp pontifical destroys,
And fills us here with heavenly joys.
