Come Thou everlasting Spirit

Verse 1
Come, thou everlasting Spirit, (John 14:16-17, Heb. 9:14)
Bring to every thankful mind (John 14:26, John 16:13-15, I Cor. 2:10-12)
All the Saviour’s dying merit
All his suffering[1] for mankind: (Heb. 2:9)
True recorder of his Passion, (John 15:26, Acts 5:32)
Now the living faith impart,
Now reveal his great salvation, (Heb. 2:3)
Preach his gospel to our heart.

Verse 2
Come, thou witness of his dying, (John 14:26, John 15:26)
Come, remembrancer divine,
Let us feel thy power applying
Christ to every soul and mine; (Tit. 3:5-6)
Let us groan thine inward groaning, (Rom. 8:26)
Look on him we pierc’d, and grieve, (Zech. 12:10, John 19:37, Rev. 1:7)
All receive the grace atoning,
All the sprinkled blood receive. (Heb. 12:24, I Pet. 1:2)
