Come, Thou high and lofty Lord

Verse 1
Come, thou high and lofty Lord, (Isa. 57:15)
Lowly, meek, incarnate Word; (John 1:14, Phil. 2:6-8, Matt. 11:29)
Humbly stoop to earth again, (Phil. 2:8)
Come, and visit abject man. (Ps. 8:4)
Jesu, dear, expected guest,
Thou art bidden to the feast; (Matt. 22:1-14, Luke 14:16-24)
For thyself our hearts prepare,
Come, and sit, and banquet there. (Luke 14:29, Rev. 3:20)

Verse 2
Jesu, we the promise claim,
We are met in thy great name: (Matt. 18:20)
In the midst do thou appear, (John 20:19)
Manifest thy presence here; (John 14:21-23)
Sanctify us, Lord, and bless, (John 17:17, I Thess. 5:23)
Breathe thy Spirit, give thy peace, (John 20:22, John 14:27, Eph. 4:3)
Thou thyself within us move;
Make our feast a feast of love. (Jude 1:12)

Verse 3
Let the fruits of grace abound, (Gal. 5:22-23)
Let in us thy bowels sound; (Phil. 2:1-2, Col. 3:12)
Faith, and love, and joy increase, (II Pet. 1:5-7)
Temperance, and gentleness:
Plant in us thy humble mind; (Phil. 2:5)
Patient, pitiful, and kind, (I Cor. 13:4, James 5:11)
Meek, and lowly let us be, (Matt. 11:29)
Full of goodness, full of thee. (Rom. 15:14, Eph. 3:19)

Verse 4
Make us all in thee compleat, (Col. 2:10, Col. 1:28)
Make us all for glory meet, (Col. 1:12)
Meet t’ appear before thy sight,
Partners with the saints in light. (Col. 1:12)
Call, O call us each by name (John 10:3, Isa. 43:1)
To the marriage of the Lamb, (Rev. 19:7-9)
Let us lean upon thy breast, (John 13:23-25)
Love be there our endless feast. (Ps. 36:8)
