Draw near, O Son of God, draw near

Verse 1
Draw near, O Son of God, draw near,
Us with thy flaming eyes behold, (Rev. 1:14, Rev. 2:18, Rev. 19:12, Heb. 4:13)
Still in thy falling church appear,
And let our candlestick be gold. (Rev. 1:12, Rev. 2:1, Rev. 2:5)

Verse 2
Still hold the stars in thy right-hand, (Rev. 1:16, Rev. 1:20, Rev. 2:1)
And let them in thy lustre glow,
The lights of a benighted land, (Matt. 5:14, Phil. 2:15)
The angels of thy church below. (Rev. 1:20)

Verse 3
Make good their apostolick boast,
Their high commission let them prove, (Matt. 28:19-29, Mark 16:15)
Be temples of the Holy Ghost, (I Cor. 3:16, I Cor. 6:19, II Cor. 6:16)
And fill’d with faith, and hope, and love. (I Cor. 13:13, I Thess. 1:3, I Thess. 5:8, Gal. 5:22-23)

Verse 4
The worthy successors of those
Who first adorn’d the sacred line; (II Tim. 2:2, Acts 1:15-26)
Bold let them stand before their foes, (Acts 4:13, Acts 4:29)
And dare assert their right divine. (Heb. 13:17)

Verse 5
Their hearts from things of earth remove, (Col. 3:2, Matt. 6:21, Luke 12:34, Phil. 3:19-20)
Sprinkle them, Lord, from sin and fear, (Ezek. 36:25, Heb. 10:22)
Fix their affections all above, (Col. 3:1-2)
And lay up all their treasure there. (Matt. 6:19-21, Luke 12:33-34)

Verse 6
Give them an ear to hear the word (Rev. 2:7, Rev. 2:11, Rev. 2:17, Rev. 2:29, Rev. 3:6, Rev. 3:13, Rev. 3:22, Matt. 11:15, Matt. 13:9, Matt. 13:43, Mark 4:9, Mark 4:23, Mark 7:16, Luke 8:8, Luke 14:35)
Thou speakest to thy churches now;
And let all tongues confess their Lord,
And let all knees to Jesus bow. (Isa. 45:23, Rom. 14:11, Phil. 2:10-11)
