Verse 1
Enough for Him, who only means
Himself by yielding to defend,
To purge, by suffering for, our sins,
By perfect patience to contend,
And conquer a rebellious race
By meekly dying in our place.
Verse 2
Enough, the pattern mild to show,
And good for evil to repay,
Enough to make his murtherers know
They could not force his life away,
Which freely he for all lays down,
To buy for all th’ immortal crown.
