Father, to Thee my soul I lift

Verse 1
Father, to thee my soul I lift, (Ps. 25:1, Ps. 86:4, Ps. 143:8)
My soul on thee depends,
Convinc’d, that every perfect gift
From thee alone descends. (James 1:17)
Mercy and grace are thine alone,
And power and wisdom too, (I Cor. 1:24)
Without the Spirit of thy Son
We nothing good can do. (John 15:5, I Cor. 2:14)

Verse 2
We cannot speak one useful word, (I Cor. 2:13)
One holy thought conceive, (I Cor. 12:3)
Unless, in answer to our Lord,
Thyself the blessing give: (Ps. 127:1)
His blood demands the purchas’d grace, (Acts 20:28, Eph. 1:14)
His blood’s availing plea
Obtain’d the help for all our race, (Heb. 9:12, Eph. 1:7)
And sends it down to me.

Verse 3
Thou all our works in us hast wrought, (Isa. 26:12, Phil. 2:13)
Our good is all divine,
The praise of every virtuous thought,
Or righteous work, is thine:
From thee, thro’ Jesus, we receive
The power on thee to call, (John 6:44, John 6:65)
In whom we are, and move, and live, (Acts 17:28)
Our God is all in all. (I Cor. 15:28, Col. 3:11)
