From hence, most gracious Lord, from hence

From hence, most gracious Lord, from hence
The land of my captivity,
I wail my complicate offence,
And turn from every sin to thee;
Mine utmost strength (which is not mine)
In striving against sin exert,
And weep, and pray for love divine
With all my soul and all my heart.

Hymnal/Album: Originally titled “If from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart, and with all thy soul.”—[Deut.] iv. 29.
