See, the sad fruit of sin appears

See, the sad fruit of sin appears,
While Peter pours a briny flood!
But that which costs the servant tears
Must cost the Lord his richest blood!
The sea of tears which Peter sheds
Can never purge his crimson sin,
But Jesus for the sinner pleads,
And pours his blood to make him clean.
