Spirit of truth, the Comforter

Spirit of truth, the Comforter,
Proceeding from the Father’s throne,
Come, and thine inward witness bear
Of Jesus, his eternal Son;
Him, the great uncreated Word,
Give me the God supreme to call,
Essence, I AM, Jehovah, Lord,
My God, who made, and died for all.

Hymnal/Album: Originally titled “The Spirit of truth which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.”—[John] xv. 26.
