The first faint spark of good desire

Verse 1
The first faint spark of good desire
Which feebly would to heaven aspire
Its kindler God will not despise;
The spark into a flame shall spread;
And bless’d by him the smallest seed
Of faith into a tree shall rise:

Verse 2
This dawn of grace, this glimmering ray
Shall shine into the perfect day,
For faithful thou, my Saviour art;
And I who tremble at thy word
Shall find my paradise restor’d,
Shall love my God with all my heart.
