The flight of those by Jesus sent

Verse 1
The flight of those by Jesus sent
That sinners may his grace obtain,
To some a fearful punishment,
To others is an heavenly gain,
To every faithful soul that hears
Christ in his exil’d messengers.

Verse 2
Instructed by his Spirit, we know
Whene’er He wills us to retreat:
And if he bids us face the foe,
To every cruel wrong submit,
We suffer on our Saviour’s cross,
As Martyrs in his blessed cause.
