The soul shall be glad, In Jesus restored

Verse 1
The Soul shall be glad In Jesus restor’d, (Ps. 23:3)
Anointed, and made A King with his Lord, (Rev. 1:6, Rev. 3:21, Rev. 20:4, Rev. 20:6)
His high Exaltation With transport receive,
And in thy Salvation Triumphantly live. (Ps. 21:1)

Verse 2
His hearty Request Thou, Lord, hast bestow’d, (Ps. 21:2)
With Holiness blest, That Image of GOD, (Gen. 1:26-27, II Cor. 3:10)
The Rapturing Fire, The Heavenly Birth (John 3:3)
Hath lifted him higher Than Kings of the Earth.

Verse 3
His Head Thou hast crown’d With Gold from above, (Ps. 21:3)
(No Dross can be found In perfected Love)
The Gold it is pure, Unmingled with Sin, (Rev. 21:21)
The Kingdom is sure Of Heaven within. (Luke 17:21)

Verse 4
Long Life he desir’d To spend in thy Praise, (Ps. 21:4)
And Thou hast inspired His Soul with thy Grace
Hast bid the Believer Thy Spirit receive (John 14:16-17, Acts 2:38)
And gave him for ever And ever to live.

Verse 5
This, this is his Boast, And triumph, that GOD
To save what was lost Should shed his own Blood; (Ps. 21:5, Matt. 18:11, Luke 19:10)
Thy Honour and Glory On Him Thou hast laid, (Ps. 21:5)
And made him before Thee Eternally glad. (Ps. 21:6)

Verse 6
Eternally blest, And joyfull, in Thee (Ps. 21:6)
Admitted to rest, Thy Presence to see, (Ps. 21:6, Heb. 4:9-11, Rev. 22:4)
He trusts in his Saviour: Who then shall remove (Ps. 21:7)
His Soul from thy Favour, His Heart from thy Love? (Rom. 8:38-39)

Verse 7
Thou reignest Supreme In Goodness and Power,
Thy Mercies redeem, Thy Judgments devour,
Thy Fire shall consume them Who madly offend (Heb. 12:29)
Thy Justice shall doom them To woes without end.

Verse 8
Thy weighty Right Hand Shall find out thy Foes, (Ps. 21:8)
Who Mercy withstand And Jesus oppose, (Ps. 2:1-2)
Who dare thy Displeasure Thy Judgments shall feel,
And fill up their Measure Of Torments in Hell. (Ps. 21:9, Matt. 23:32, I Thess. 2:16, Rev. 14:10-11)

Verse 9
The Vengence decreed Yet farther shall go,
And root out the Seed Of Sinners below, (Ps. 21:10, Ps. 37:28)
Because they Offended Maliciously proud,
And vainly intended Their Rage against GOD. (Ps. 21:11, Ps. 2:1-2)

Verse 10
Thou therefore, O Lord, Shall put them to flight, (Ps. 21:12)
The Nation abhor’d Drive out of thy Sight,
The shafts of thy Quiver Shall aim at their Face, (Ps. 21:12, Ps. 7:12-13, Ps. 18:13-14, Nahum 3:12-13)
Transfix them for ever When in their own place. (Acts 1:25)

Verse 11
Take to Thee thy Power, O Jesus, and reign, (Ps. 21:13, Rev. 11:15, Rev. 11:17, Rev. 19:6)
So shall we adore Thy Goodness to Man, (Ps. 145:7)
Thy Mighty Compassion Thy Conquering Love,
Till in thy Salvation, We triumph above.
