To David’s Son and sovereign Lord

To David’s Son and sovereign Lord
Hosanna was the people’s cry,
Their King they yesterday ador’d,
To day they sentence him to die:
So many blessings He bestow’d
So many wonders wrought in vain!
Such the benignity of God,
And such th’ ingratitude of man!
