Who did His servant’s fall foretell

Who did his servant’s fall foretell,
Forbids us to confide
In fervours we this moment feel,
In strength of faith untried:
Wherefore to Him we leave the heart
He only can defend,
And trust he will his grace impart
Till war with life shall end.
