Who tempted Christ, the faithless race

Verse 1
Who tempted Christ, the faithless race
Tempted, and anger’d the Most High:
And still we in the wilderness
His Spirit grieve, his wrath defy,
Jehovah’s fellow who disown,
And would the filial God dethrone.

Verse 2
But give us thro’ thy Spirit’s power,
Jesus, aright to call thee Lord,
Thee, the One sovereign God t’ adore,
Thy Father’s uncreated Word,
The second Person of the Three
Who was from all eternity.
